Blogging

Last week I went to a focus group held by the Publishing Training Centre at Bookhouse. The event was held at the Publishers Association and was very interesting. The aim of the focus group was to try and understand further what training requirements we marketing people had and to get our views on what new areas are developing, what new skills we need to do our jobs more effectively etc. All four of us marketing people (working in very different publishing environments I'm sure) talked excitedly about the Web 2.0 phenomenon, blogging, podcasts, etc and how new technology is helping us to develop relationships further with our customers and to create more useful products.

While the Publishing Training Centre does already have a course on Marketing Using the Internet (from looking at the course details) it doesn't seem to mention blogging directly. I'm sure this will change shortly if the enthusiasm of us marketing people is any indication...
